My artist statement

My work explores the intersection of texture, colour, and emotion, using the fluidity of acrylics and the richness of oils to create layered, dynamic compositions. Each piece evolves through an intuitive process—building, scraping, and reworking surfaces until form and feeling converge. The combination of mediums allows me to harness contrast: transparency against opacity, spontaneity against precision.

Drawing inspiration from both the physical world and inner landscapes, my paintings aim to evoke a visceral response, inviting viewers to linger in the tension between abstraction and suggestion. Every layer tells part of the story, yet the final narrative is left open—shaped as much by the viewer’s perception as by my own intention. As you can see, these works exist at the threshold between the seen and the imagined. Rooted in the discipline of realism, each piece begins with a faithful observation of the world—figures, landscapes, and fragments of everyday life. Yet, as the paint moves across the canvas, reality begins to loosen. Forms dissolve into suggestion, shadows shift into colour fields, and space bends toward memory and emotion.

Abstract realism allows me to explore the tension between what is visible and what is felt. I am drawn to moments where certainty fades—where the edges blur and the story becomes layered, open to interpretation. Texture, light, and composition become not only tools of representation, but also of transformation, inviting the viewer to step into a space where clarity and ambiguity coexist.

Ultimately, my paintings are conversations between structure and freedom. They ask the viewer not only to see, but to linger, to sense, and to imagine.
